Myriad Genetics, Inc. is an American molecular diagnostic company based in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. Myriad employs a number of proprietary technologies that permit doctors and patients to understand the genetic basis of human disease and the role that genes play in the onset, progression and treatment of disease. This information is used to guide the development of new molecular diagnostic products that assess an individual's risk for developing disease later in life (predictive medicine), identify a patient's likelihood of responding to a particular drug therapy (precision medicine), assess a patient's risk of disease progression and disease recurrence (precision medicine), and measure disease activity. In August 2016, Myriad announced it would acquire Assurex Health for up to $410 million, expanding the company's genetic testing for psychotropic medicine selection.

Former Employee - Cash Poster says

"No management or leadership skills"

Intern - Hourly says

"As an intern I was not treated as part of the team. My manager only spoke to me when they wanted something copied or faxed. In private meetings with my co-workers I was told that my ideas were unwelcome and not feasible, but when we had a team meeting on the topic my co-workers asked why I had not provided any input. I was told multiple times my manager would not have lunch with me or my backfill, and my co-workers would not mentor me. Coming out of other internships where ambition was welcomed, this was shocking."

Former Employee - MSC says

"They play politics and will revise your quotas beyond any reasonable expectation of achieving the quotas. This product is a one and done of testing- there is no residuals ever achieved but yet they constantly increase quotas as if there was. There are some terroritories in the country that have a chance for success, but even those will be cut up to avoid having a rep being successful."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Assurex Health was acquired by Myriad Genetics and lost its soul completely. What was an exciting family like Biotech startup is now just a terrible corporate company. Office Environment - If you enjoy rubbing elbows and not being able to concentrate this will be the place for you. You will be cramped in like sardines in a noisy open office environment at the main location or the secondary location in the basement of city hall. (see Glassdoor pics) Culture- The Company promotes a lot of values that they don’t follow. It can be really clique oriented in many departments. Communication is really poor for being a small company. Leadership Team - CEO is too busy promoting herself for awards and her next gig (see Glassdoor pictures) than worrying about the culture of the company. CEO and leadership team took millions on the sale of the company and left all the employee stock options worth nothing. Many of the employees took lower than market salaries because of the stock options they were promised. I am not sure how this meets the Assurex Health value of “Win as a Team.” The Future - The leadership promised and told the city of Mason we would be building a state-of-the-art new building in 2016 for the company that never happened. They downsized a good number of employees at the acquisition in Nov 2016. I would predict the company will likely be relocated to the parent company headquarters in Utah in 2018 after they start to understand the business and can downsize it further and the bonus and executive acquisition stay incentives are paid out at end of 2017. Bottom Line - There are so many better places to work in the Cincinnati area avoid this place."

"CEO is driving the company into the ground. Broken promises to employees constantly from leadership Smokescreens and lies from leadership on how well we are doing and upcoming monetary compensation Management doesn't have the courage to say no. Managers are only managers because they have been here longer, not because they are actually good leaders"

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Nearly all levels of employment had a strange 'back-slapper' attitude with hardly any effort dedicated to scientifically rigorous work that could be replicated by an outside group of scientists. When I was there it appeared that few had deep technical skill sets whatsoever, unless the skill set was encapsulated by chicanery. It was like a group of high school kids got together, convinced themselves that they were more intelligent than they will ever be and got everyone else to 'drink the Kool-Aid.' I'm very thankful to have realized this when I did, as it has taken a while to 'unlearn' how to compromise my ethics."

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"The company gave out stock options instead of salary increases at review time leading employees to believe assurex health was going public. 2 weeks later 'leadership' announced they had sold the company, leaving employees that had built the company with nothing. Myriad purchased assurex health, the same company that tried to patent human genes. Need I say more?"

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"When the company was purchased by Myriad, everything changed. The company lost its soul and its culture. Where there was once strong leadership, now it is weak and embarrassing to watch."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Too many to list. Shady company at all levels."

Former Employee - Molecular Sales Consultant says

"This company has broken many laws and they try to get rid of employees when they mess up in management. Employees that have been driven out should get together and get a class0action lawsuit going because what this company does with the blessing of many in charge is disgusting and illegal."

Reimbursement Billing Specialist (Current Employee) says

"Very petty environment. Everyone would rather sit around and talk all day, vs doing their actual job. Management is not trust worthy and gossips just as much as your fellow co workers. Just not a good working environment."

Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) says

"If management decides they don't like you, you might as well start looking, cause the odds will be stacked against you immediately. Start looking for another job."

Reimbursement Supervisor (Former Employee) says

"I would not recommend a job here to anyone. This company does not care about their employees. It doesn't matter how hard you work you will not be recognized and they are very cut throat."

"This was not a good company to work for at all. The management does not know what they are doing. Went through merger, good ole boy network. Pay is not as good as other companies in the industries. Always change quota and set you up to fail. The company had lay off and in big trouble."

"Assurex Health and Myriad has a lot of non legitimate hiring practices ,culture biases and more.I cannot even remotely recommend these companies to anyone. Including no opportunities for growth and advancement. Companies are not professional and breaks many federal laws. Signed - Dual Medical PhD"

Customer Service (Former Employee) says

"Another review said "if management decides they don't like you, keep looking." I'll add to that. The customer service department here is staffed almost entirely by temp-to-hire. They don't want workers with brains, they want warm bodies in seats performing the same mindless tasks over and over and they will severely micromanage you to ensure you do just that. God help you if you need to take a phone call or visit the restroom on anything other than a scheduled break. Management has their clear favorites. If you're not on that list, best of luck to you. Cons: Monotonous work, management with no people skills, minimal training, micromanagement"

Clerk (Current Employee) says

"Management was garbage. Favoritism, multiple managers. A lot of gossip and lies . Nobody seen what goes on there, well the right people. No advancement."

Molecular Sales Consultant (Former Employee) says

"Started with Assurex and then Myriad purchased the company. More changes, structure, but still autonomy. Quarterly meetings local or out of town. Not open to suggestions."

Molecular Sales Consultant (Former Employee) says

"The company was bought by Myriad and the culture changed. The financial loss was great as they reduced commission and car allowance. They also raised employees contribution for ins coverage"

Patient Advocate II (Current Employee) says

"I like learning about insurance. Management can work on a few things. Turnover is high. There are favorites, and management can be very over critical of your performance."
